Considerations when deleting documents

On Bonsai, you're able to delete any of your documents. This includes contracts, proposals, forms and invoices.

However, deleting a document is a permanent action and it cannot be recovered in any way.

To delete a document, navigate to the additional options beside the entry and click 'Delete'. The deletion selection will also appear when

When deleting any document, a prompt will appear to confirm the deletion:

Deleting signed contracts

If a contract is signed, your client will still be able to access a copy of the document. However, it will be permanently deleted on your end and cannot be recovered.

Deleting invoices with billed hours

Deleting an invoice is permanent, and will result in any associated payments and income reporting to be removed.

When deleting an invoice with billed hours, you will be asked to choose what should happen with the unbilled hours.

You can choose to either:

  • Delete the hours entirely: The hours will be permanently deleted, and cannot be recovered.

  • Revert to unbilled project hours: Your hours will be retained and can be included for billing in the future.

Archiving documents

To retain older documents but keep them separate, we recommend archiving them. This ensures that they are out of sight, but remain accessible to you. Please note forms and invoices cannot be archived at this time.

To archive a proposal or contract, select its additional options and hit 'Archive'.
