Overview
If you’re using Bonsai Payments as your primary payment method, payouts are automatically sent to your connected bank account based on your payout schedule.
However, in some cases, your available balance may not be paid out as expected.
Causes for a delayed payment
Your payout may not be sent if:
A previous payout failed
Your payout amount exceeds method limits
Your payout method needs updating
Each issue is explained below with steps to resolve it.
Failed Payouts (Most Common Issue)
What it means:
A payout attempt was made but failed to deposit into your account.
How to identify it:
Go to the Payments tab in your dashboard
Look for a payout labeled “Failed” (typically shown in red)
Why this happens:
Invalid or outdated bank details
Issues with the receiving bank
Closed or restricted account
How to fix it:
Go to Payments
Click (...) > Manage Payouts
Select Add Payout Account
Enter a new or updated payout method
What happens next:
Once a valid payout method is added, your payout will automatically retry and queue for processing.
Payout Amount Exceeds Limits
What it means:
Your payout is too large for the selected payout method, so it won’t be processed.
Current limits:
Debit card payouts: Up to $9,999 USD
instant payouts: Up to $9,999 USD
How to identify it:
Your balance is available but no payout is queued
No failure message appears, but funds remain in your account
How to fix it:
Go to Payments
Click Manage Payouts
Select Add Payout Account
Add a bank account as your payout method
