By default, if activated as your primary payment method, Bonsai Payments will automatically create payouts to your connected payout method once your invoices are paid! The timeline for these payouts depends on your current payout schedule, which you can find in your Bonsai Payments settings.

Occasionally, you may find that a balance exists in your Bonsai Payments account that doesn't queue up immediately to pay out. Most commonly this is because a previous payout to the account has failed, or the payout is too large for the payout method.

Payout to the account has failed 🚫

You can see that a payout has failed by clicking into your Bonsai Payments settings, clicking "payouts", and you will see a red "failed" notification beside a payout. If this happens, all you need to do is click to add a "new account" to Bonsai Payments, and add a new payout method! Once your new payout method is added, the payout should queue up as soon as possible to try again.

Payout is too large for the payout method 💰

Another possibility is that the payout is too large for the attached payout method! While payouts to cards are convenient and can enable great features for eligible users, such as instant payouts, there are limits to card payouts.

For regular payouts, the limit on card payouts is $3000 USD.

For instant payouts, the limit on card payouts is $10,000 USD.

If you have hit these limits on a payment, the payout won't queue up. To resolve this, simply click into your Bonsai Payments settings and add a bank account directly as a payout method!
