Using Bonsai with ZoomMate (Beta)

Learn how to connect Bonsai to ZoomMate and manage your tasks, deals, contacts, and companies directly from Zoom using natural language.

Bonsai's ZoomMate integration lets you access and update your Bonsai data directly from Zoom, using natural language. You can look up tasks, create deals, update contacts, and more without switching apps.

Setting up the integration

  1. Open the ZoomMate panel on your browser or Zoom Desktop Client. Click the + icon in the message input field.

  2. Click Connectors, then find Manage Connectors.

  3. Search for Bonsai and click Connect. You'll be taken to Bonsai's authorization page.

  4. Sign in to Bonsai, select the company you want to connect, then click Authorize.

  5. You'll return to Zoom automatically. The Bonsai connector is now active.

You'll need:

  • A paid Zoom license (Pro, Business, or Enterprise)

  • ZoomMate enabled on your Zoom account

How to ask ZoomMate for something

Type your request in plain language in the ZoomMate panel. A few examples:

  • Show me my open tasks

  • Create a deal for BrightTech, $5,000

  • Update Alex Johnson's job title to VP Engineering

If your request is ambiguous (for example, two contacts with the same name), ZoomMate will ask you to clarify before making any changes.

What you can do

Note: This integration is currently in beta. We're actively building on it and more capabilities are on the way.

Tasks

You can list tasks, look up a specific task by name or ID, and create new tasks.

Example prompts:

  • List my tasks assigned to me

  • Show me task #42

  • Create a task called "Review contract" due June 20

Results are paginated. If you need more, ask for the next page.

Projects

You can list your projects.

Example prompt:

  • List all active projects

Team members

You can list team members. This is useful when you need someone's name or ID to assign a task or deal.

Example prompt:

  • List team members

Deals

You can list deals, create new ones, and update existing ones (title, value, stage, assignee, contacts, close date).

When creating or updating a deal with a specific pipeline stage, use the exact stage name from your Bonsai pipeline. If you're unsure of the names, ask ZoomMate to list your pipeline stages first.

Example prompts:

  • List open deals

  • Create a deal for Acme Corp, $8,000, in the Proposal stage

  • Move the BrightTech deal to Won

  • What are my pipeline stages?

Companies

You can list companies, create new ones, and update existing ones (name, default contact, domains).

Example prompts:

  • Find the company BrightTech

  • Create a company called Acme Corp with domain acmecorp.com

  • Update BrightTech's domain to brighttech.io

Contacts

You can list contacts, create new ones, and update existing ones (name, email, job title, phone number).

Using email when searching for a contact gives more reliable results than name alone, especially if you have common names in your CRM.

Example prompts:

  • Find alex@brighttech.com

  • Create a contact: Alex Johnson, CTO at BrightTech, alex@brighttech.com

  • Update Alex Johnson's job title to VP Engineering

FAQ

Will new features be added?

Yes. This integration is in beta and we're actively working on expanding what you can do with Bonsai inside ZoomMate. More capabilities coming soon.

Why can't ZoomMate find my deal or contact?

Try using the full name or email address. Partial matches sometimes return no results.

Why isn't my pipeline stage being recognized when I create a deal?

Ask ZoomMate to list your pipeline stages first, then use the exact name it returns.

Why did the connection stop working?

Disconnect and reconnect from the ZoomMate panel. Click the + icon, go to Connectors, find Bonsai, disconnect, then reconnect.
