Custom Views in Bonsai allow you to save specific combinations of filters, layouts, sorting, grouping, and column visibility. This helps you quickly access the exact data you need without reconfiguring your workspace each time.
Custom Views are especially useful for managing tasks, projects, deals, and contacts based on specific criteria (e.g., status, owner, priority).
Where Custom Views are available
Custom Views are available in the following modules:
Each module supports its own set of views, and views do not carry over between modules.
Creating and managing custom views
Adding a new view
Open a supported module (e.g., Tasks or Projects).
Click the current view name at the top (e.g., “All Tasks”).
Select Add View.
Choose a layout:
List
Board
Gantt
Workload
Enter a name and select an icon for the view.
Apply filters, sorting, grouping, or column preferences.
Save the view.
Your Custom View will now be accessible from the view dropdown.
Note: default view cannot be deleted or edited, but you can duplicate it or save it as a new view to make modifications
Editing and duplicating views
Edit an existing view to change the name, visibility, or layout.
Duplicate a view to create a new version with the same filters.
Delete views that are no longer needed.
Sharing views with your team
When creating or editing a view, you can control who can access it:
This allows teams to standardize workflows or keep personal views private.
Saving layout and grouping preferences
Layout Preferences
You can switch between layouts (List, Board, Gantt, Workload).
The selected layout is saved automatically for that view.
Grouping Options
Group items (e.g., tasks or deals) by fields such as:
Project
Owner
Status
Grouping helps organize data for easier analysis and workflow management.
Filtering in custom views
Applying Filters
You can apply multiple filters at once.
Filters help narrow down results to specific tasks, deals, or projects.
Filter Operators by Field Type:
Text fields: "Contains", "does not contain", "is", "is not", "is empty", "is not empty"
Number fields: “greater than”, “less than”
Date fields: ranges and relative dates
Filters can be combined to focus on specific projects, deals, or tasks.
💡 Pro Tip: Combine Custom Fields with Custom Views
Custom Fields and Custom Views work even better together. Any custom field you create becomes available as a filter, so you can build views like:
- "High-value deals in discovery"
- "Tasks flagged for review by client type"
- "Projects with a specific service tier"
The result: fully personalized views of your tasks, projects, and deals, no manual filtering needed.
