With Bonsai, you can link your bank account and credit card to import expenses. To learn more about how to import external transactions, take a look at our article here.

Understanding transaction posting times

Transactions are pulled as they are posted to the issuing institution.

Depending on the merchant acquirer, processor, gateway and issuer, the time from when a transaction occurs to when it is posted can take from a few minutes to a few days. The date listed in the transaction will be as close to the original transaction date as possible.

How to manually sync expenses

If your account is already connected, you can manually sync it to retrieve the latest data.

To get sync your expenses, navigate to Financial Management > Expenses within the navigation bar.

From here, select the additional options and hit 'Sync Expenses' from the dropdown menu.

From here, you should see the new transactions that have been imported as expense entries.

Note: With our Bonsai Tax add-on, you can calculate your self-employment taxes by importing your expenses. Learn more about Bonsai Tax here.
