Bonsai allows you to import external data using .csv files. This helps you quickly migrate or add client and financial records into your account without manual entry.
You can import the following data types:
Clients
Paid invoices
Time tracking entries
Expenses
Each data type requires a properly formatted .csv file to ensure successful upload.
Where to Import data
Steps to Access Import Tool
Log into your Bonsai account.
Click your profile icon (top-left corner).
Go to Settings.
Select Import/Export
Open the Import Data section.
You will see options to upload different data types via .csv files.
How to import your data using a .csv file

Import Steps
Go to Import Data in Settings.
Select the type of data you want to upload.
Download the provided CSV template (recommended).
Prepare your file using the template format.
Click “Include a file attachment”.
Upload your

Review the data preview.
Click “Import Data” to complete the process.

What happens after upload
After uploading your CSV file:
You will see dropdown menus to map your file columns.
A preview will display how your data will appear in Bonsai.
