Connecting Bonsai to HiBob
You can connect your HiBob account to Bonsai to automatically sync time off data (vacations, sick leave, etc.). This helps you keep your team’s availability up to date in Bonsai without needing to manually manage it.
Step 1: Create a service user in HiBob
In HiBob, go to Settings > Integrations.
Select Automation.
Click the Service Users thumbnail.
Enter a name and display name for the new Service User. Click Save.
HiBob will generate a Service ID and Service Token. Copy these somewhere safe — you’ll need them to connect Bonsai.
⚠️ The Service Token is only displayed once. Make sure to store it securely.
Step 2: Set permissions for Time Off data
Service Users don’t have access by default. You’ll need to assign the right permissions so Bonsai can read time off data.
In HiBob, go to Settings > Account > Permission Groups.
Create a new group (e.g. Bonsai Integration) or edit an existing one.
Click Edit permissions — there are 3 permissions you need to enable for the Bonsai integration to work correctly:
Assign this permission group to the Service User you created.
Step 3: Connect HiBob to Bonsai
In Bonsai, go to Settings > Integrations > HiBob.
Paste in your Service User ID and Service Token from HiBob.
Click Save.
If the details are correct, Bonsai will confirm the connection and begin syncing your team’s time off data automatically.
Next steps
Once connected, Bonsai will pull approved time off records from HiBob.
Time off will appear in your Bonsai resourcing and scheduling tools so you can plan capacity accurately.
You can disconnect the integration anytime in Settings > Integrations.
