How to send files to your clients

Easily share images, PDFs, and more with your clients directly from your projects.

Updated over a week ago

There are 3 ways to send files to your clients through your projects: File Uploads, Link Sharing, and Email Attachments.

How to upload files on projects:

Uploading files to your projects is a great way to share with your clients and to save them within your projects for the foreseeable future.

Note: File uploads are visible only to you, your partners and the client on the project. Collaborators do not currently have access to project files.

To access your projects, navigate to Project Management > Projects. Here you can select the unique project you'd like to upload a file to.

From here, you just need to select the "+" button on your project's Documents section and then "Upload File":

From here, you will see a modal to upload your file, as well as confirm the filename to add:

You can add PDF's, images, audio files, videos and more within a maximum file size of 40 MB.

Once you have done so, this will add the file to your project so you and your client can access it in the future. If needed, you can easily delete any file as well.

One great part of using this approach is that your clients can also share files with you right from their Client Portal. In other words, if they log into your Client Portal and access a project, they can easily share files in the exact same way.

Once uploaded, they will appear in your list of project Documents, where they can be viewed and downloaded.

How to share links on projects:

Sharing important links with clients through your projects is an easy way to communicate while centralizing key information. For example, you can link directly to Google Drive or Dropbox.

Note: Shared links are visible only to you, your partners and the client on the project. Collaborators do not currently have access to project links.

To upload files to your project, you just need to select the "+" button on your project's Documents section and then "Add Link":

Here, you will see a modal where you can input your file link and then confirm it:

Once uploaded, they will appear in your list of project Documents & Links, where you and your client can easily refer to them:

How to send emails and attachments from projects:

Sending files via email directly from your projects is another simple and convenient option to communicate with your clients!

Note: Project emails and attachments are sent to everyone on the project, including partners, collaborators and your client.

This feature offers two main benefits:

  1. It utilizes any white-label branding you've enabled for your account, ensuring that emails sent to your clients maintain a professional appearance rather than resembling personal, text-only emails.

  2. Keeps the email visible in your project timeline for future reference by both you and your client, provided they have access to your Client Portal.

The benefit of using this feature is two-fold:

  • It uses any email white-label branding you may have enabled for your account. This means a professional-looking email can be sent to your client, instead of a text-only email that looks more like a personal email.

  • It remains visible in your project timeline for later reference by both you or your client (if they refer to their Client Portal).

To send a branded email, you just need to click "Send Email" next to your 'Recent Activity' timeline in your project:

This will open a modal to send an email as well as add any attachments you would like to be sent to your client on the project:

Once you have completed these steps, you'll be able to review the email and any email responses from your client under your 'Recent Activity' timeline in your project.
