You may run into an issue where you don't recognize the charge located on your Bonsai business account or your Bonsai card. If you are looking at your card statement and find there is a purchase you can't seem to identify, we have included some tips on what to do when you see an unfamiliar charge.
Check the date
Putting the transaction in the context of your day’s activities can be helpful in jogging your memory. If you recognize the activities around the payment, you may be able to retrace your transactional steps.
Sometimes a payment may be on hold and post at a later date than the actual transaction date. Be sure to consider the activities of a few days before the payment’s posting date when investigating your payment.
Check the descriptor
All charges will include a short description along with the name and amount, which can provide further context about the charge.
In today’s world, with a wide variety of payment processors and billing solutions, the descriptor may be unfamiliar to you even if you remember the actual good or service.
Contact the merchant
Some merchants may include a web address or phone number in their charge descriptors to help clarify unrecognized charges, and will be more than happy to clarify the charge if you contact them.
If you recognize the descriptor or the merchant but not the charge itself, you can go directly to contacting the merchant to confirm what the charge was for.
Note: If you have done all of the above, you should contact Support to look into potentially filing a dispute on the transaction and looking into additional steps in how to secure your card.
Our support article here contains detailed instructions for how to do so.
