Tracking time and estimates on tasks

Tracking time

Track time spent on a task

When tracking time with our in-built time tracker or when logging a manual entry, assign the entry to a specific task in the dropdown menu that appears.

Time estimates

Discover on how long your tasks are taking by setting a time estimate and tracking time against it. Head over to the Insights tab of your project page and scroll down to the Completed Tasks section to see all your tasks estimates compared to the actual time logged.

Setting estimates and tracking time on subtasks

You can set time estimates and track time directly on subtasks to get a more accurate and detailed view of work across your projects.

You can set an estimate on a parent task only if none of its subtasks have estimates. Once a subtask has an estimate, the parent task’s estimate is calculated based on the total of the subtasks estimates added up. This ensures accurate workload tracking without double-counting.

You can also track time at the subtask level. You can live time track or manually add a time tracking entry on subtasks:

The parent task shows a breakdown of time spent on each subtask, so you can easily see where time is being spent:

With that, you have the option to "Show Subtasks Separately" to ensure that all parent tasks and subtasks appear under the Task page:

From there, you have the option to filter task by "Type" to show either parent tasks, subtasks, or both:

Reports treat subtasks the same as parent tasks. They appear in activity logs, estimate vs. actual reports, and project insights. This ensures that time and estimates from subtasks are fully accounted for in all reporting and analytics.
